hello all ive been looking for new containers to store my coin hoard in and have been trying to figure out which plastics are coin safe, I know the pvc ( recycling code 3) is a major no no but what about cpvc, hdpe, pet, ldpe, polypropylene, polystyrene, and abs plastic? any clues as to whats safe and whats not would be helpful. also im not too sure about those coatings on the inside of metal containers like paint cans and soup cans. biphenol a aint good for us but what about my coins?

Don't know what volume your talking about, but I use those "brown/yellowish" medicine Rx bottles for my silver finds. Have not seen any tarnish yet.

Ive just got all my ag in canvas bags

alright thanks dozer I was worried about those pill bottles but now ive got the go ahead! I got a big one the ibeprofin comes in, ill use it for my Indians.

by the way does anyone know if 2 liter plastic bottles are safe for copper, I was thinking about using one to bury some wheats out in the woods, I would use pool epoxy to seal the cap up

I'd just buy the coin tubes from a dealer that are designed for that purpose. No need to worry about PVC damage or anything.

Not sure what good burying copper would get you, other than a green mess when you dig it up!

there is no reason why copper would turn green underground if protected from oxygen, moisture, and acidic/corrosive substances in a suitable container
