Not a coin expert at all, but the eagle on the back is a traditional symbol from Mexico that dates back to Aztec times. Plus the writing above it says "Liberty and Reform" in Spanish. So my guess would be a 1867 1/4 ?peso? from mexico... not sure if they were pesos back then or not...

It's an 1867 1/4 real from the Mexican state of San Luis Potosi, (de San Luis Potosi). KM #361

I posted it for a friend. Found in NC by an old standing chimney easy of Raleigh
