Of course they have value. It's printed on them and would never be less. The silver coins (dimes through half) are worth more in the silver than the face value. But they are pretty worn and I can't make out much detail from the image.

Good start is a COINage magazine from Barnes & Noble and a grading guide if you have a bunch of them. Then go 50% less for what a dealer would pay.

You may wish to keep them in remembrance of your brother and his experience serving his country.
If so, the personal value will far exceed the numismatic value.

Welcome. Yes, they have more than face value, probably at the melt price of silver. Nickels are tough, but wheat cents can bring 3-4 cents each for run of the mill worn out ones. Those with better quality, a little more.
