Coins I have gotten for free

I work at a coffee shop and whenever I have someone tell me they are visiting out of country I ask where. I always see if they have any coins from their country that they could part with. I have them tell me a story about what they can buy with the coins. I don't think any of the coins are valuable but it's pretty neat how strangers can get so excited to give you some money and talk about it.

No, I'm in the United States. Some regulars started giving me any unique coin they come across and then I throw it in my tin can of coins.

One of my hunting buddies doesn't collect foreign coins, so, when he finds them, he cleans them up and gives them to children as "pirate coins" or as tips in restaurants.
