Hello, I found this in the river out in Ohio. I know double loop buckles are older, but I don't know how old this one it. I found it with some leather attached (I conserved it) deep in the silt.
I don't think it's too early do the stamped brass roller type end - it not being just a regular cast end like a Colonial buckle would. My guess is more CW era than early, but see if anyone knows for sure. Not to mention it's very uncommon to see an early buckle with leather even from the best ground. Given the amount that's there I'm thinking it could be post CW.
Not so bothered about the age of the leather but the stitching is a clue.
I don't think this 'brass' buckle is much older than 1900, the holding piece in the centre for the pin is the biggest clue, then the roller at one end.
