congrats on the unusual button its more then likely a "paste" stone .

The term paste is used to refer to gemstones made of various kinds of cut glass. Lead glass was most commonly used, since the denser the material, the higher the refractive index and the greater the dispersion.

Nice button don't recall seeing one here. Good job getting the close-ups.

First early flat button with a stone that I can recall! Very nice find!!

Ive seen a lot of buttons on here but never one with a stone in it! Excellent find...Can't tell if it was put in there when it was made or sometime after???

Agreed, its a glass stone.

Although I've seen glass stones around the edges of some buttons, first one I've seen like this.

Nice going on the button and the first of this type I've seen. Wonder if could of been a collar stud or one end of a cufflink something that gives it a little more dress up factor?

Very nice button find, interesting stone configuration. Thank you for sharing.

Now that's a different button & a nice one at that.

I have never seen a button like it either, would make a nice addition to any collection:thumbsup:nice one

very interesting, and the other thing kinda does look like a flask spout

Very cool button! I've found hundreds of buttons but never one with a stone in it. Super nice find. Congrats

killer button :icon_thumright:

some great finds, I am about 100% certain that you have a Powder Flask spout there. I see what looks like the little latch that was on the spring closure. Your button is cool too, I found one a few years back from a colonial site with a blue stone in the center. Yours and mine are the only 2 that I have seen posted here on TN, there may be some others but I haven't seen them.
