As you all know we've been hitting these Fields of legends for almost 3 years now. Recently they did an ultra deep plow that took weeks to settle . Before the plow the signals were getting very scarce. I concentrated in the back field where most of the 1600s finds came from. Well the finds were still a little scarce but I managed to find another dozen or so buttons some toasted coppers and this sweet little gem. I thought it was cut silver at first but it didn't look right. Tested it on the T2 and a Whites DFX and they came in real low like gold. After an hour so of research I think it is a 1780ish Portuguese Reis. My first gold coin. And old to boot! Thanks for looking.

Finally after all that silver, beautiful gold finally arrives. When Jim handed me the coin I could feel the weight of it. The coloration of the coin reminded me of pink gold. The detail was a beautiful sight. Congrats Jim on the first gold, the legend lives...

That is just awesome...banner in my books...don't have to tell you but pound that area, may be more!

Wow thats awesome..

Looks more broken than cut, but there's a definite positive side to that!

Exactly what I would say also, now to find the other 2/3rds. Congrats on the find!

Nice job !! I bet there is still more ! :occasion14:

That is totally amazing find.

Wonderfully Fantastic find!

Very nice find. Glad to see that all your hard work was rewarded. Congrats.

An incredible find Jim, and great job on the ID. Maybe the rest of the coin will show up as it looks like it could've been chewed up by the plow. Good luck!!

Very cool!
That's more gold coin than I've ever found, so that's pretty good in my books!
Also, it's something different, something I don't think I've ever seen posted before and that is something I like!

I believe IP has given you reason to return, in case you needed one lol. Congrats on a very nice find. Hope the rest is waiting for you.

I wonder if the rest is there?

Congratulations. Excellent find and research and patience pay off.

Awesome old gold find! Congrats! Defiantly get back there, that would be so cool to find the rest of it!

I like it!! Congrads!!

Thanks all . I think it was perfectly cut except for the last bit. Its got a decent edge where its cut/broke. Its quite possibly the other pieces are there. I'll definitely be looking hard ;)
