Got out yesterday with Dan for the first time in 3 weeks, plus our buddy Patrick joined us for a morning hunt. For the day we hit 3 new sites, and unfortunately none of them panned out as hoped, so we spent most of our time at a couple old places that have been really productive for us although the finds have really thinned out. We didn't repeat our performance from the last hunt with 3 colonial silvers as we got shut out in the coin dept, but we didn't get skunked either as were able to pull a few decent finds from the ground. Although the quantity was lacking, I did recover a few nice pieces including a colonial watch winder, a large decorated door pull, a 17th century ornament, a very small child's thimble, and a handful of buttons, mostly early 1800s. So although that killer find was elusive we still had fun, but its getting time to find a new and untouched spot and get down to some serious digging. Hopefully that will happen for us soon.

Still looks like a good day to me Bill. The watch winder is really cool looking

Nice hunt Bill. Glad to see you scraped a few finds from that place. I really like the winder and thimbles are always great too. I'm in the same boat with needing to get a new site(s). Hopefully it cools off and drives me indoors, with nothing to do but research. Ha.

Nice grouping of old finds you made.

Regards + HH

A nice relic hunt and the watch winder is sweet

I would kill to dig that pile at this point. I like the winder Bill, good recoveries from a pounded site.

Nice digs Bill! Any idea what the small brass plate that says "Trade" was?

Bill, nice haul, nothing like some quality time outside with friends. I like the thimble, mine always seem to be crushed.

Nice hunt Bill, love the watch winder. What is the item with TRADE on it? I'm sure you'll find something amazing soon!

The killer find may be elusive but that's still a great haul there Bill. The watch winder is probably my favorite piece. Was that pipe stem a visual surface find or did you sift a bit?

Keep at it Bill. I hung up my detector to study for the Unlimited Tonnage Captains exam. That said, I will need plenty of colonial finds posted to drool over, and you're colonial sniper #1 (although Dan may argue?) lol

MAN AWESOME FINDS ...

Great bunch of finds! Congrats!
The buttons faired well in that soil. I like the watch winder and tiny thimball.
Its good you can still get out and dig there.
