This is by far my best find. I found this last Thanksgiving Day at an old homesite which was just a few miles from an old fort that dated back to the 1700's and the days of Daniel Boone. I was hunting with my Dad and my Brother and I could not believe it when I dug this up from around 4" deep. It is the reason that I found this site and you guys helped me to Identify it. It actually predates the Civil War and is made of rolled brass. Thanks for looking. HH

I think you should strick the word "common" from your heading. If they were common I would have found one. And I want one. Congradulations.
 

Ya even if it is common its still a great find, I still havnt found one.

I found what appears to be the same exact belt plate back on November 10, 2006. Though the one you found is in much better shape than mine. It was also identified here on T-Net as being from circa 1815-1825.
