Picked these fossils up last fall while looking for Indian arrowheads. These date from 23 million to 5.3 million years ago (Miocene Epoch) and are pretty common in some areas along the Chesapeake Bay. The full scallop shell with barnacles measures just over 6" across.

Nice shells. Are they from Calvert cliffs?
 
Not from Calvert cliffs beach, but close by.

Inyo, thanks very much for the information and the photo of the Kettleman Hills Scallop Shell.
 
I think your shells are a species of pecten
