Compass Found Hiking a Trail In Howard County MD

Went on a hike with a friend this weekend on a Trail In Howard County MD. He found an old compass a little bit off the trail. Can anyone help date it?

I would hate to throw a guess out there, but you could try an antique shop, or better yet take it to an Architects office. They could probably come real close (as long as the Architect is older than 30) ! Nice find.
