Sunday afternoon I was able to get away. I drive to the spot, hike out, and got 45 minutes in before I had to leave. At least I dug something that made me grin.

First crusty iron-busted signal of the day was the best. Cleaned out the iron above and scored this beauty at 9-10" ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1481505312.180288.webp

Last few signals were not too insane, but I was happy to dig them.

Any idea what this is?

Well 2016 is coming to a close faster than I'd like. With frigid temps in the forecast I don't know how much longer Northern NJ will stay thawed. Still hoping for a few more targets. Fingers crossed.

Good digging everyone

Glad you shook your cold and defied the cold to get out there. A great buckle!

I haven't been out in weeks and now the ground is one big clodcicle. Sad.

Cheers, amazing work this year. Looking forward to your wrap up. : )

Awesome buckle Steve, still waiting to find one myself.

That is a sweet find!

That is a sweet find ! Echo in here ?
Nice thick one in perfect condition.

That buckle is amazing ! I think I'd put that on a shoe right now and wear it .

That buckle is in great shape! Congrats!

Sweet one-upper buckle Steve :laughing7: I'm glad you could slip away and that sick buckle made it totally worth while. That's a nice thick frame on that one too.

killer buckle! The artifact in question is a colonial harness rosette, like this one. Initially a bar was on the back to attach it to the leather. I'd say its of the same period as the other relics in the picture! Great finds!Screen Shot 2016-12-11 at 11.20.01 PM.webp

Wow! I love that buckle.

Thanks Z. The dirt temp was cold here yesterday. The couple of cold snaps this week will have me sidelined as well.

Nice buckle Steve. Glad your still able to get out.

That buckle is a beauty congrats on some nice finds

I have not found a buckle like that yet, very cool.

Beautiful Buckle find, congratulations! :occasion14:

I love that period of buckles!

Color me jealous. I've never found one intact like that, just the frame. Great find!

Not sure what got into you and Brad yesterday! As long as you're not pulling my Maine shoe Buckles it's ok. If you guys find a silver one I'll be happy but I'll also be very very jealous. Great job bud. Not an easy find....unless you live where I do lol

The funny part was I just finished BSing with you on the way to the spot, and thought on my hike out that it would be great to dig a whole buckle (like you) today.

Anyway, the frame is on the smaller side, potentially making it older and possibly my earliest find at this site. But that's really something that could never be said for certain. Cheers brother

Not really the right terminology. It's one half a horse harness strap-guide;
Strap Guide - UK Finds Database -

Thanks guys for the ID. I have a bunch of these and I really appreciate the ID and correct terminology.
