Conditions on Hilton Head ?

The family and I will shortly be heading over to Hilton Head. Got a place on the water. Might even bring the detector...
Has anyone been there recently, if so what are the conditions on that wide beach ?? Is there anyone on the sand or in the water?
Wish they had beach cams. Should I bring the scoop for soft sand or hard pack?

Tek, I usually try to get there about once a month even though I live a couple of hours from the coast. Definitely take the detector. Concentrate on the areas behind the resorts, I've had good luck there. I haven't had much luck in the water for some reason but have made some nice finds by finding a coin line and following it. The last time I was there I found quite a bit in the sand high up on the beach. I use my sandscoop in the wet and dry with no problem. Good luck!
