Confederate buttons have eluded me for years. I have a precious few. I didn't hit this lined A (my first) it was plow-struck I'm sure. It was in a clod when I pulled it out.

I got a totally accidental permission for a new spot. (Was there for a different reason) Plugged the Tejon up and immediately dug a flat cuff button. Then started finding lots of melted lead and cut-up bullets. I was in a field so I thought it was the work of a plow. But I found so many, and when I got home, I could see the striations of a knife. I'm guessing I walked into the middle of a campfire. Lots of melted lead and carved bullets, but no discernible shapes except one does look a little like an acorn . . .

Nearby I found what I assume is maybe a colonial shoe buckle? Can anybody help with that?

In addition, I ended up with an IHP, the front of a New York Cuff button, harness buckles and boy, I thought I had a cool little period knife, but when I cleaned it up, I'm pretty sure the bolsters are aluminum, so no deal there. My hunts have been so pitiful over the last few months - I was/am thrilled with the lined A.
