All Treasure Hunting
Hi All,
Saw a show called "The Curse of Civil War Gold". About a few guys who researched for years, looking for the Confederate Treasury of 14 wagons filled with gold and silver that Jefferson Davis was hauling while trying to escape from the Union forces. Long story short... I got an urge to do some hunting of my own... Not for lost Wagons but little things around near me. I live in Central SC and very close to the "Ashtabula Plantation". I'm looking for historical maps of the area. Any ideas?

Welcome aboard. Savannah, Ga here. Try starting with Railroad maps and telegraph maps.

Welcome to Tnet. Do a search at the top of the page for Lost Confederate Gold. There are a couple of threads about it I think. Good luck.

If you are looking for spots in town, "Sanborn Fire Insurance" maps have been very accurately drawn.
They are available for free download to your computer at the Library of Congress website https://www.loc.gov/.
You will see "all formats" with a drop down at the top center of the screen. Click it to "maps", and then fill out the towns info in the search box next to it.
This has been an invaluable resource so far in my quest for new places to hunt.

Good luck and happy hunting!!
