Found an old Confederate Dollar in the farmhouse we have started hunting in. Same farm where we found the Dyer shell last week. Got out again this week end for about 2 hours and found more shrapnel and musket balls. The dollar was in the chimney of and old house on the property.

Says " Virginia Treasury Note" Dated July 21, 1862 I am at work now but will post a picture of it this afternoon.

Does anyone know if it is even worth anything?

Need to make sure that it is not a reproduction. There are a lot out there. Although considering where it was found it probably is the real deal. It is a bit unusual that there was just a single dollar...Steve

Agreed. I would check the chimney thoroughly to see if there are any bills. It's unlikely that someone would hide a single bill in a chimney. And even if it turns out to be a repro, some of the early repros have value as well. Great find, sounds like an excellent site.

Thanks, I went to one of the links and pulled a picture. It looks just like the I have now added.

Fake or otherwise still a neat find. I would think where it was found though that it would be quite possible for it to be real as stated above. I would also have to agree that you may want to check out the chimney again just to be sure there aren't more around.

Very cool find.
