Was knocking on some doors today in Olathe, KS (Kansas City area) and finally got permission to search the yard of a duplex in an older part of the city. Only found a few coins at this place but one of my first targets was this Constables Badge from Polk County, Arkansas. The back of the badge has the manufacturers name in the upper left Blackinton (http://www.blackinton.com/home/default.aspx). I have emailed the Polk County Sherrifs office asking for information, I would love to find out who lost it, when they lost it and what were the circumstances for losing it in Kansas.

Nice badge find ... hope you find out the circumstances of how the badge ended up in Kansas ~ Jimmy

Probably lost (or traded) at a cathouse..

Great item! I hope you get some history on it.

Nice badge, I can't wait to find my first! Thanks for sharing.

It's nice to find something different...
Nice Find... 8)

I think it would be great to find a badge hope you are able to get some info on it

Wow! That is a cool badge...congrats ....did you ever research and see what the duplex used to be>?

Now your a constable congrats nice find :D :D

I emailed Polk County Arkansas to see if I could find out anything, here is the response I received.

"We have asked everywhere and cannot find anyone we know that has moved to KS from here. Suggest you contact Terri Harrison, County Clerk, and she can give you lists of all the past constables if you so desire. May take her awhile. None that have been elected in the past 8 years would apply. We know all of them! If that is gold plate, it could have been buried for a while. You might research the design thru the internet(different badge makers) and trace it that way. Keep us informed if you find where it belongs. If you don't mind, I will give your information to one of our local papers. They could publish the badge and a short piece on you finding it. Let me know. Vicki Hendrix, Polk County Sheriff's Office"

VERY nice badge!! May have been lost in a scuffle with a bad guy.

Any chance the duplex used to be a donut shop? :D

Take the publicity that the news article offers. If you can find the owner, return it.

I live in Polk County, Arkansas and know most of the constables but dont remember any leaving here and moving in that direction...looks like most of the badges I have seen them wear...looks to be of an older design though...I will ask around down here and see if anyone knows of anyone that may have lost it...

Thanks Pudsbrat. I was hoping someone from Polk County would see this post. This isn't an old item but it is a special item. The research is going to be more fun than actually finding the item.
