Continuous faint sound

Greetings. When the Legend detector is activated, a continuous but very quiet wind-like sound is heard. To hear the sound i have to put my ear near the speaker. Note that threshold is off. It is normal operation of the device or not?
Another detector I have (quest) is completely silent when it is just active without detecting any signal. Could this sound be an indication that the speaker is going bad, or something else like that? Thanks for your time.

That is the threshold hum it is normal, in park,field and beach mode turn the threshold setting to zero, you can also turn the threshold to zero in gold mode but I do not recommend doing that in gold mode because gold mode in the Legend is a threshold based mode

When your machine is turned on, without detecting any signal, like holding it up in the air, does it make any faint sounds from the speaker or is it completely silent?

yes it does, it sounds like a small fan constantly running at a very faint volume, it is normal and has been there from the first productions of the Legend, some people notice it more than others, I just happen to be one that does not hear it because I am hard of hearing, when I have my hearing aids in is when I can hear it the most without my hearing aids i do not hear it.

I would just go with it, I have three Legends two of which is older units one being from the very first ones that came to the U.S and on is one of the brand new units that has only ever had 1.11 version in it, all three have that same faint sound like a small fan running so there is most likely nothing nokta can do with it, even if you turn the volume all the way down that sound is there

What i noticed on mine, is that if i reset it to factory settings this sound is immediately reduced, however it starts again as soon as i apply any change to the machine, such as speed recovery, backlight, etc..
