I've seen something like this before, but can't remember. It looks like the two holes are for screws...it looks also countersunk so that the screw heads will not stick up. Maybe to attach to wood. Somebody here should know what it is. He must be the first person to search under that tree...if someone else searched there they would have found it. Please post other finds.

Thanks for the replies. I agree with the last post about the countersunk holes, etc. It looks strangely familiar but I don't know why... The other finds from this trip worth noting are posted on the Today's Finds section, but nothing too old.

Oops, I think I should have noticed how small it is before I responded earlier. :P But the shape seems a lot like a guage housing.

Ok, here is my guess. Ever see a rod for hanging cloths on? I believe this is the attachment part that screw into the wall, an end of the rod slid into this.
