It's a shim. They were used under bearing caps to set clearences, or to level machinery. Tony

It appears to be an A frame shim from an old car circa 50s-60s+.

Pretty good response! Just shows you never know what you may find, and it never hurts to ask someone who might know what it is. Another great thing about this site, there are people who know. Cant wait to get my Ace 250 and join you in the fun!

I'd agree, an automotive shim. I've only used this type when doing front end alignments, but they could have other purposes I'm not aware of. This one is from a Mustang (obviously newer than your item), but it was the first photo I could find, just to show the similarity.
