Cool token and something you don't find often
I went over to my cousin's house again; she has property that once had an old house on it. I've found 20th century silver and an Indian head penny there, so it's still worth hunting. Yesterday, I dug a small privy and got about a dozen bottles; after an evening thunderstorm, the bottom was a little wet today so I turned on the detector. My first find was a token for The Star Store at 9 E. Washington Street in New Castle, PA. I don't know how well the lettering will appear, so I'll quote it for you: "Good for $1.00 on purchase of $20.00 or over...Use your credit-pay as you wear...Clothes for the family...Make your own terms" On the other side of this half dollar sized piece is a swastika with the lettering "Membership emblem of the good value club." It's a nice find, and so, I think, is the 12.5" pair of wings. Now what this is from is anyone's guess; is it Patriotic? Or, are they angel wings from a small Catholic cemetery adjacent to her property. The wings were at least 100 feet from the cemetery, so I wonder. I've been over there, and they definitely wouldn't be out of place there. Eventually, I'll clean the bottles and post a picture of them, too.
