Copper(?) Art Find at GW. Would Appreciate Help Identifying

I picked up this little guy at Goodwill today. He is heavy- over five pounds. I can't tell if it is copper or brass. It is signed but I can't make out the signature. It is titled "Rock Spring Buck" and dated 1/93. It looks like the patina is painted on but I'm not certain. It is 25" end to end. Anybody have any thoughts on who the artist is? I probably paid too much at $14.99, but I like it and would be fine just keeping it. Thanks!
