Seems to be a normal dug buffalo. Alot come out of the ground with that color.....cant read the date either.....cool find

Nickels are a combination of nickel and copper, what you have is a normal dug buffalo nickel. 1913-1938. Congrats on your find

It's not a 1913 type 1. I've dug two dateless 1913 type 1's.

dateless is the norm for the most part. congrats

The placement of the date on Buffalo Nickels left a bit to be desired when it came to preserving the date. As dirtlooter says, dateless is extremely common.

Congrats on the Buffalo. Most are dateless and most look like that. In Louisiana they come out red.

I'm with all the rest. It looks normal to me. Congrats on your find.

That color comes from being in the ground for so long its a normal buff..
