Now THAT is a most amazing find. I’d frame that one for sure, if my wife didn’t make me donate it to the museum.

Yeah, she’s done that before.

That's an amazing find. We sure don't get them here...

Looks like BANNER to me!! My vote is in!!

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Killer find, congrats!

Many people don't realize that the Native American copper artifacts are from the oldest metal-tool cultural complex in the world. Since they had pure native metal already available not requiring smelting the old copper complex was the earliest pseudo-metallurgical culture in the world which makes any such artifact a true treasure.

Often people foolishly lament the relative lack of metal artifacts in the USA compared to old regions like Europe where medieval and classical goodies may be had more readily, but we have something rather more wondrous and special; 8,000 year old beautiful green patinated rarities from the dawn of humanity's first dabbling with metallurgy, rarities that can be detected in playgrounds all around the great lakes!

These truly are my absolute favorite MD find, way more ancient and special than about anything else that a detector could hit on in this continent. Thanks for sharing, go find me some more!

That's extremely unique and I find that dagger shape really interesting over the other crude and simple copper artifacts that are found. Congratulations on a great find.

Thank you very much for looking, kind words and votes.

What a great recovery, and where you got it is amazing also.
Just a perfect example of one never knows who/when/somebody else walked over the same piece of soil.
Congrats on the find.

Well said. Imagine the world at the time that was lost. Searching excavated ground for the playground was the best part of the story. It shows that you need to take advantage of every opportunity to sometimes just have to put your coil over it to come up with a tremendous find. Banner vote submitted.

Wow that is spectacular. Something I would love to find. Congrats on that once in a lifetime find. My friends uncle detects and found one here in Milwaukee at a sidewalk tear out at a busy intersection.
