I would take that offer if it were me. If I sold $1000 in copper cents for $1500, I could replace them at face value in a short period of time. It's not like it's hard to find them.

There was an ad I read in a local newspaper in my town where a guy was buying Wheaties for 2 1/2 cents a piece

Unless they are planning on changing the law regarding melting copper cents sometime soon, I would sell. Get your profit now and let someone else pay to store the stuff.
