Copper item , unsure on what it is

I found this little copper item beside an old school house from early 1900s. There is a modern school there on the same porperty now, but i found this close to the trees beside older building. It was fairly deep. Its nothing special but im curious as to what it is exactly. As you can see the top of rod is rounded, as is the part in the middle is curved on bottom. The bottom of rod is flat, and the top of middle is flat. the middle part does not move up or down rod, or spin around it. any ideas?? the other brass looking object is what i believe to be a part to a musical instrument, a trumpet i think.

thanks, but the one thats shiney and looks like brass isnt a fire extiguisher pull pin. It is the 3rd valve slide ring, for a trumpet. the copper item is what i need help with.
