These are amazing. They come up dang near immediately after a summer rain. It seems like the next day they are already up 6-10" and blooming, but actually more like a couple days.

Yes, Mamabear. They are a wild flower here. Nearly as soon as they bloom the bloom is off and replaced by very thin and flat black seeds. They have a very quick life cycle.

Are those a desert type wildflower, given the quick life cycle?

Central Tx in the summer (especially this summer) would certainly seem a desert environment.
