Over the past year I have found a few rats nest windings of this wire at 2 places 50 miles apart. Each were settler era 1830s homes/ farms. After unwinding this set, the pieces are twisted, my others are all uniformly cut and bent over. The wire is solid pieces of copper/brass and coincidentally fit through the holes of some lead pendants I have found... thoughts?

I'm thinking it's lighting rod ground wire, I've found this on very old home sites as well.
