Corner gusset Thing?

I found this item at a site that has already given me some wonderful finds including a 1775 1 Real, so I am motovated to identify anything that I find there. I can say that this is copper or brass and measures 2 inches from tip to tip (in both directions).

Could be off furniture or a steamer trunk.

DC Matt could be right on the ID, don't know, but I think it also could be a piece that went on a musket or pistol which served as a decorative piece. Tennessee digger

Possibly off a bicycle.

I think I will lookup some old furniture hardware and see what I can come up with. This is a tough one.

I just looked at our old steamer trunk. All the corner hardware make more or less 90 deg. angles. That bicycle tag comment might be worth looking into also. Good luck.
