just found this the other day and learned what the odd corner was for. questions are, is this type of blade particularly rare and/or valuable even if the tip is broken? thanks in advance!

It looks to be around $200 in it's condition, Anyways, All I can say is that that knife is amazing!!! Think of posting it in the Native American Artifacts forum.

Banner anyone? That is one hell of a find!

absolute gorgeous piece of workmanship...even without the tip. just stunning!!

its amazing what they did with just stone and bones...

I would be very proud to find something as exquisite as that. Just amazing to know that someone many hundreds if not thousands of years ago spent a great deal of their valuable time constructing that.

Exceptional piece, even broke!

Nice material of that corner tang! Looks partially translucent. You must be in the southwest...I have a corner tang knife I found in Texas when I was stationed at Fort Hood. I would be looking for the tip of it if I was you. Would be worth looking for. Glued together would make for about $450, but I wouldn't sell it. Would be worth a banner too by my vote. You know how hard those are to find these days?

I've searched and searched, but no tip...but oh well, I wouldn't have sold it all the same :)

You still have the main part of the blade which is more valuable and identifiable because of that. A friend of mine found the base and half the blade to a Clovis point. Intact it would have been about a $600 (going off memory 12 years ago), but as it was, it was valued about $200.
