went out today for a couple of hours in a new cornfield. found lots of flakes and these two pieces. don't really know what to call them. I think the square piece might be a scraper. the other looks like an arrowhead with the tip broke off but only has a groove cut on one side. the other side looks like it never was notched. the edges are very thin and sharp. Can someone tell me what they are?

Oh very good! The one does appear to be a scraper. I like finding tools. :tongue3:

Nice finds I would keep hunting that field you might be able to find the other half of that point

Nice little scraper, that looks like a big field in the back of that first picture. do you walk every bit of it?

I didn't walk it all yesterday. only about 15 rows and that not even half way down the rows. found the scraper in the second row that I stepped in. that field has 200 acres on one side of the road and another 250 on the side. It's gonna take awhile to walk it all. Hope the rest of it hold alot more goodies.

Huntress - I think the first piece is a broken base off on an Archaic point, with damage to one basal corner. I don't think it's a scraper. Generally scrapers have the broken edge resharpened to a beveled edge, yours is not resharpened. Sometimes they were used as is as scraper but this is rarer and I don't think that's the case. The 2nd piece does appear to be a scraper.

If you found those on your first trip into a field you have good things ahead I'm sure of that.

Nice scraper, Huntress :icon_thumright: .
Hope you find lots more in those big fields!
