I got permission to search an 1880s farmhouse field, though I think the dirt is much older than that. Found this 1831 large cent, which is my first LC in a long time. I don't dare clean it anymore than I did, as it started to flake at even the lightest touch. Also found this interesting Womans Relief Corps medal, which was issued to its members. This organization was founded in 1883 to keep the memory of the Grand Army of the Republic alive. I included a picture of a non-dug medal for comparison. The organization still exists today, and maintains a nice website. Also dug what I think is a shoe buckle frame, possibly late 1700s? The guts of it is missing, and were apparently attached to the long edge. Also found what I think is a horse bridle rosette, though the missing loop seems like it would have been rather small, so I am not sure of my ID. The circular keyhole plate is interesting to me. It is very thin, so I doubt it is from a door. Maybe from a box of some sort? Miscellaneous finds include a couple of buttons and small buckles, maybe from a harness. Thanks for checking out my post. Happy hunting!
