Well folks I revisited a spot where I have dug some very nice bullets. I dug a couple today that were unique. First up was a deep barely audible signal. Repeatable though so I knew it was a good target. Believe it is a Colt Pistol Bullet. image-626426705.webp image-94697502.webp Next was one that when I dug it I knew it was different. Dug it after sunset so I couldn't tell what it was until I washed it at home. Well I thought that it looked different, but I tell you after I washed it I knew something was very unique about this one. Found it under two old oak trees. image-1088263318.webp image-2055378180.webp I'm not sure, but I think it is a carved bullet that looks like an acorn..??? What do y'all think? image-3837418546.webp

HERE IS THE VIDEO!!!

I was referring to the nose of the bullet, not the base area. I couldn't tell by the photo. I hope that there are no chew marks at all and that it is all carved. Unique find! After watching the video, forget the squirrel part. It looks carved all over.

It is very unique for sure!

Well it'd have to be one tiny pocket knife. Been digging relics since 85' and I've dug many just like it in the past. They will chew the skirts clean off and then the tip. Its a drop so it was on top of the ground for many years before being covered over.

But , it can be what your dreams and imagination wants it to be cause its your bullet but after dealing in relics with guys back to the 70's its knawed IMO.

Well I respect all you guys opinions and that is why I put the video up. There were some talented "Southern Squirrels" back in the War days! Ya'll dont have to post anymore. I'm going to display it the way it is and Leave it as is. Thanks everyone for clearing this up.

Congrats Dave, looks absolutely like an acorn to me and judging from the information Q gave you I am convinced. As far as a squirrel chewing a bullet and being that accurate, sure wish I could catch one! I would make millions!!

Shanegalang you ain't kidding. After uploading the video and having a couple of VERY Knowledgeable detectorist look at the video we are sure it is carved. No animal could have done this. The bullet is simply not finished... I can bet I will find something else at this spot that will confirm this even more. Like I said I only dug targets over 60 or so on my VDI of my F75. I probably missed several deep bullets that were so deep they were showing up as a lower number. I do that usually. I will cherry pick the sure nuff targets and then go back and dig the deeper iffy targets. If I had more time I would have stayed and dug more, but I ran out of daylight. I can see that most of the older period items are going to be in the 6-8 inch range. All the bullets I dug were that deep. I will be back out there soon. The Squirrel picture is funny though. I have several chewed or gnawed bullets and the bullets are chewed all over. I'm adding this bullet to my other unique bullets. I keep them in my Lock box with other goodies...Treasure!!! Thanks everyone for looking!
