Not sure if this is what you have or not, but back in the 1800s there was a fake dollar gold coin that was attached to a watch chain acting somewhat as a watch fob.

if it was a real gold coin, it would be as clean as it ever was. this a fake

The real one dollar gold coins had a '1', then under the '1' was the word 'dollar' and under the word 'dollar' was the date. I'd call yours more a fantasy piece than a counterfeit or fake.

Six years later is a little late to add to the discussion but; I just dug the EXACT same thing thismorning in Bucks County PA. Complete with small snip marks from loops!

Some one dug up a mummy 6 year old post. One was found and posted day before yesterday. Same question same answer/ Yes a replica and fake.

I have been racking my brain, I knew I had see these before. Coin bracelet/belt. This one is from an older one but they are still sold. They are stamped tin now. Very cool in the hippie days.
