Could this be a meteorite?

This was given to me a few years back by the widow of a physicist. I did some finish carpentry for her and after I finished she gave me a box of books about astronomy and also this mystery object. She never said what it was and it weighs a whole lot more than a rock of this size would.

Here are a few pics. You can see a magnet on it, and also the pic where you can see my jeans is from where I cut a small piece off in case I needed to send a sample somewhere. You can see inside of it in that one. But who knows, may be just a hunk of iron or something.

It could be, but highly doubtful. Have it examined by a professional geologist or lab. Good Luck! :skullflag:
 

Is it metallic or stony? I suggest to do a density measurements, it's easy to make. But fracture doesn't look like typical meteorite.
