Could you pass this test?

:icon_scratch: Nope couldn't passunless they grade on a curve.
>:( I blame the system.

Was going through some of the physics books from the high school curriculum of the 40's. Most of that is relegated to college level physics now.

Got quite a few old school books I've found over the years. Kept them out of landfills. No, our kids were not taught that which was once academic in our public schools. Having two straight A kids today and the honor roll bumper stickers is not what it would have been 100 years ago.

sorry I couldn't pass that test so hold me back a year.

Probably few of todays students or teachers can pass this because school is no longer a place for children to be taught and learn academic skills but has become todays parenting center. Teachers are now expected to teach children manners, social skills and appropriate behavior, political correctness, tolerance and sex education...all in 6 hours a day. It might be possible to get back to the academic education if parents got back to parenting instead of leaving it to the schools. Just a thought

I couldn't pass it.

OK!!! no I couldn't pass that ... however!!!
get one of those kids from 1895 and see if they could pass this
simple test!

use a computer
drive a car
turn on a cell phone... not even make a call... just turn it on!

yuppers NONE of them would pass... so its all relevant

Well, we have come a long way, but since the first telephone was invented in 1876 and the first car was invented in 1769 (steam powered, gas powered was invented in 1896)...I would think they probably had a little mechanical know how. I think given a cell phone, a student from 1895 could figure out how to push a button. All of the things mentioned were invented in or around that time period, so academics were definitly a high priority. I think the modern day computer might stump them but then you must consider that the first computer was not invented for another 41 years in 1936 and was called the Z1. We would not have any of the things we now enjoy if their education was not as good as it was. We have improved upon these early models, but our later generations did not invent them...even metal detectors came from that time period. Alexander Graham Bell invented the first metal detector in 1881. Just thought to share some interesting trivia. We do have our own modern day marvels...but those first ones were GOOD!!! Kelly you are right...it is all relevant
