I’ve been trying to get out a little more and hunt the gravel bars. After 2 years of hard hunting I finally found my first creek point . It does have a little tip ding but I love it still. Most everything I find in the fields around here is quartz or quartzite so this is a new material for me. I would guess it is chert. Also found a what I think is a large flake and a shard of pottery.

Yeah! That translucent point does not look like Quartz. Relicgrubber may be right.
Morrow Mountain?

Yes I believe it is a morrow mountain. I still have no idea about the material. I’ve never seen anything like it around here. I love the flaking

Nice, the last picture is interesting (whatever it is).
I’m not sure if it’s a piece of pottery. The more I look at it, the more I think it’s modern trash.

What’s a little tip ding in a creek most will have a little damage some place. I hunt creeks mostly. That’s a good looking piece

Thank you! Do you sift in the creeks or surface hunt. I have been thinking about sifting some where I found the point, but I’ve never tried it.

That’s a interesting thought but I’ve only found them on top and in my footprints. I do a type of flipping with my stick in the water. You pick up quite a few rock’s doing what I do but as you can see from my posts I find a few doing it. A type of grubbing is what I call it something I’ve developed myself. If you decide to sift I’d like to see the results

You definitely find some nice points! I’ll Let you know how the sifting goes once I give it a shot.
