Couple of rings today from the beach

Met up with Max and Guru today for a hunt at East Beach, Tide was low but still higher than usual so we couldn't really get too far out where the good stuff is. Targets were there but not as plentiful as usual. Guess the last storm dumped more sand than it took off! Found a copper ring (with blue paint), a junk earring and what looked to be an OLD plated ring. I could see it on the sand with it's small stone (diamond? doubt it but will test it later on...) and when I picked it up and brushed off the sand, damm if the whole thing didn't just crumble apart in my hands! Stone and mount fell off first then the ring broke into 3 pieces! Amazingly enough, I was able to collect them all up and bring them home. Pretty sure it isn't anything great but any day with 2 rings (crap or not) and a minimum of aluminum and pull tabs is a good day!


Also found a car wash token (pretty sure it's not colonial...ha ha...), a tag that says "City Of Houston Cares" "0223740" "713-238-2170". Called the #, disconnected, and after a couple quick searches it looks like it's a dog license. Also found a spoon that says "The National Silver Company Extra Plate".


And, the CRAP! Not too much of it today....

Jeepers, talk about community service. Big props to you for pulling out that butcher knife!!! The sea can hold some amazing things, lol.

Murder Weapon eh? Never considered that...lol think I should turn it over to the cops? Or at least call and ask em if they want it? It is a crappy, generic kitchen knife.....plenty like it out there....

I'm pretty sure that the DNA has come off of that knife by now. If you turn it in to the Police they have to take it and then do paperwork on it and it's a pain in the butt for them. They would prefer that you just keep it and or throw it away - unless of course it had fresh blood on it and was found in a crime scene. Been there, done that when I was a cop.

Appreciate the input...wouldn't have considered that......was going to ask my neighbor first anyway, he's a local Police Captain. But yeah, I guess it wouldn't really be of much use. I did retrieve from the trash though after my last post just in case!
