My uncle sent me this pic of his past finds because I asked him about it at a family function. Anyway, I'm interested to know a few things;

  1. Any idea what the cross and shirt/dress is? (The emboss says 1959, May have been a pin, no pics of the back)
  2. How old might that Reese lock be? I found matches using Google but none of the sites mentioned a date, just "vintage padlock".
  3. What is that aluminum looking piece, it's solid aluminum, my uncle believes it may belong to some counter-weight scale.

If need be, I can email my uncle but responses will be slow, I'm assuming the toughest ID will be the aluminum piece, maybe it's just garbage, I don't know...

A young girls memento pin for a baptism in 1959? A cross & baptism dress symbol combination maybe :dontknow:

Seems logical, I'll lean toward this one over the cross dressers for now ha ha. Possibly Holy Communion as well?? I'll see if there what Catholic churches were nearby and see if I can contact them, maybe someone will recognize it. Unless this is some custom gift given by the family themselves. Can't hurt to poke around, it'll be a good history hunt.

The aluminum thing could be part of a lipstick tube.

Well, I just got a new photo from my uncle providing images of the back (original post updated). Apparently the aluminum is solid and my uncle believes it may be for some counter-weight scale.

After seeing the back of the cross I'm starting to think this might have been homemade. I'm no expert on metal-work from the '50s but it seems like the quality good on the front but the back is kinda just mushed together and the edges aren't as clean, they're tapered on the front but on the back they have a sharper edge. Maybe these are just effects from being on/underground...

Do you have an accurate scale to determine the weight of the aluminum cylinder? Might help narrowing it down if it's a scale weight.
