At least her 'Skull', I found it a few days ago, & cleaned it & placed it on the barn roof to let 'Old Sol' & the rain bleach it out.
One of the Horn covers was washed away down the river, so I'll make a 'Blowing Horn' out of the one I found.

Thanks, there are a herd of 'Longhorns' in that area, so I keep a look out for skulls.

That is pretty interesting. I would like to see a pic of your finished horn when you get it done. Maybe a pic or two
of the process to see what you have to do to make it work? I have never seen a real one, only in the movies.

Thanks

Ray

Re: Cow On A Hot Tin Roof

Very cool skull. I just found one eroding out of the river bank last weekend. Not sure exactly what kind it is, but it was eroding out about seven feet down, right at water level. When I first saw it I was hoping it was a buffalo skull but its definitely not that.

Re: Cow On A Hot Tin Roof

Ray, I'll try & get some pic's of the horn, you cut the tip off, put a ring around it to tie the leather on, smooth it up, & done.

Muddy feet, looks like you have a 'few fossils' there, that must be an 'old cow scull'.
Here are some pic's Ray, cut the tip off, shave it with knife blade, (old timers used glass), bore a hole in the tip of the horn, cut a ring around the end, (For tying on leather ), then bore a hole in the opposite end, & you're finished.

Hey, Fossis,
That is really interesting. I like doing that kind of stuff. I'll have to try that sometime if i can pick up a horn
somewhere. Now I know the right way to do it, the finished product would work right and not be messed up. You have
revved up my interest to make one. That was very nice of you to show the pics and directions for making it. Thanks
a million. That one you did looks pretty nice. A great piece to hang up on the wall.

Have a great day and Happy Easter.

Ray

You're Welcome Ray, I just need to take a piece of wire or nail, (heat it very hot), then burn the hole on through the top.
It had more 'solid material' than I thought, I could use a drill, but wanted to be 'original'. :P

If you train a dog to come to the horn, start by calling & blowing, then gradually just go to blowing the horn , the 'old timer's' I knew were pretty good at getting their 'fox dogs' to come to them.

HAPPY EASTER, Fossis..................
