XP Deus II v0.6 with 11" Coil

Today I only had a 2.5 hour hunt without Dad, so I wanted to try the Deus 11" Depth capability. My choice was a nearby ridge & furrow pasture field with 15 grazing Cows. The reason was that it's the only 'never' (except in the Medieval period) ploughed field that I know that I could reach the 17th C with the XP GMP & I wanted to see if the Deus could do any better.
It's very rare that I do grass land but I really enjoy digging a 7inch turf flap & still hearing the find deeper. Although I got back into the 17th C the only really deep objects at 12-13inches were the lead weights & scrap lead.
It was a good test & the results are below:

Blank 17th C Jetton
17th C Pot Leg
18th C Furniture Decor
Collar Stud
Nice 1660-1720 Buckle
17th C Lead Cloth Seal - Nice & complete (another indicator its not been ploughed) & with hand carved numbers on the reverse. (often to do with yards of cloth left or...)

Nice finds. Any day you get to hunt is a good day. Thanks for sharing.

what size coil are you using - is there a ton of iron - or is it sparse enough to run a giant coil?

Its the 11", & there's not too much iron so a larger coil could be used but I don't have the kind of money to have more than 2 Deus Coils.

Nice 17th and 18th century relics!

Pasture that's never been ploughed is rare find over in your parts, the buckle and the seal where nice finds for the day. Too bad the Jetton is so far gone as one would think that the condition would of held up better in the undisturbed pasture.

really like the seal, but as usual, I like all of your finds

It's the cow piss/crap that causes the issues. But I was hoping for deeper larger shoe buckles that hadden tangled with the plough.

Like both buckles. Finds from unplowed land are always great. In our area is not a single field never plowed...

Yes it is rare, but I can see why they didn't bother. It's flood plain, a gravel & sand bar with ridge & furrow in 2 different directs.

So Cru, how much depth do you feel you gained with the 11" coil? Were you using the 9" coil prior?

I'm trying to compare it to my XP GMP 11" coil & at this stage the Deus 11" Coil seems to be very similar but I know I'm not getting the best out of it. I experimented a bit more today.

Oh I bet you could trade a couple of your finds for another coil Cru. ;)

My favorite is the cloth seal. We don't see those too often here in VA.

I too like both those buckles ! What are the two cylindrical things in the second pic ?

Those were the really deep Lead Weights, purpose unknown.
