I've been bringing my Civil War relics and other finds into work to show my coworkers lately. When I brought the arrowhead in I found last week it sparked the interest of a young lady who brought this one into work for me to look at. She said her husband found it when they lived in Mass. , but wasn't sure it was from that area or if it could have been mixed with some dirt they had purchased for the yard. :icon_scratch: I told her I would post it up and see if the pros could possible ID it.
It's a small one as you can see, and almost looks like a quartz type material.
What can you wonderful folks (a bit of b-tt kissing there :-* ) tell me able this little fella?
Thanks all for your help,
MM

The material is quartz. This could be a possible dalton variation i wouldn't say yadkin though. Molly would be the one to help you on this.

It almost has a Dalton look to it, but I'll wait until Molly chimes in since she knows her eastern typology.

Thanks everyone.

Nick,
What are you doing hanging out here? I thought you were lurking in the ChuckE Cheese token section. ;D
XOXO,
Lish

I hung around Mass. awhile back in the late fifties and found a few triangles that resemble the one in question.
The local folks up there called them Squibnocket triangles. Good looking point.

Well, It's not a Yadkin, or Levanna or Woodland/Mississippian. I'd say it was a Squibnocket Triangle, I see it's been reshaped at the tip. But on saying that it's definetly a Squibnocket. There's quite a few different types of Triangles on the Eastern/Northern Seaboard but, with study & experience one can tell them apart. It's Middle-Late Archaic 5,000BC-1,000BC.

Milky Quartz, Nice find the lady has there MM. These type of points can be also found in neighbouring states to Mass but, would still be known as Squibnocket Triangle(Mass type.)

Hope this helps.

Molly. :)

Awww Shucks Nick. Thankyou.

Yep ... it's a Squibnocket. Ninety nine percent of them are made from quartz, and they all have that concave base and tapered sides. It's an Archaic piece if my memory is right.

Holy smokes you folks are good!!!
Thanks so much for the fast ID. She'll be thrilled to know.
Have a great weekend,
MM
