Found this in an empty field next to my college. I have no idea what it is! Its a misshapen piece of brass/copper that's been pressed with the letters CPC CO. V . The reverse just has the letter "V" or roman numeral 5. Some kind of token issued by a company?

I think it is a lead seal. Look to see if there is a place a wire could have been in the middle.

yep kinda looks like it but i dont see any holes where a wire could have run through
Excuse my stupidity but.. what does a lead seal do? :dontknow:

Look around the edges and see if there are any rust spots. That would be what is left of the wire.

The wire was run through something and the lead seal was put on so it could not be opened or removed without breaking the wire.

We still use the same type thing on electric meters and such. You can't open the meter cover without breaking the cover.

Most lead seals identified the manufacturer of goods and may have had a tax significance.
