Humm your Giving me Ideas for my Jimmy ;D

Wonder how much Weight that adds :P

being a body guy, I would say stay away from any extra heat.......Burn baby, Burn..........NGE

I don't know about the rest of you but that is one ugly car to me. It looks like the bady parts were just glued on. Well dang, I guess they were! Monty

A couple things come to my mind....

It's not body and fender work, as we know it, it's artistic sculpting.

Just about any shape is possible, 'til you got real big and were battling wind resistance! ;D

It might make the care safer... with the impact foam over the actual body.

Ha! Ha! It might FLOAT!

...And I'm really curious about the process they are using to apply automotive grade paint over that stuff! There's GOT to be some sort of barrier layers before primer application.

Well, T... you could make all the skulls you need if you want to skupt them out of the Polyurethane foam!

Heck with the cattle... Do a T-rex or a triceratops! An elephant skull is really interesting, too!

Anyhow, fun stuff!

How to make a Mercedes look like a kit-car. :tongue1:

Yah, I know...

Then again, I've complemented people here or there on their nice automobile/chopper/ski boat, and they responded 'Thank you' with great pride, as if they were actually responsible for it's conception and construction.

In a couple instances, they were loan sharks that worked for one of those predatory mortgage companies, in another they were a real estate agent who made 5% off a sale of an overpriced McMansion...

I have more respect for workmanship that someone accomplishes themselves than someone who goes out and signs on the line at the credit union to buy the workmanship of others who are struggling craftsmen.

Sometimes I do run across someone who responds with, 'Thank you, there's some guys at a shop over in XX that do a great job... Look at how nice they do on this XXXX.'

I dunno....

Hey T, I don't think you'd have any problem with breakage. The PU foam is somewhat flexible.
And if it did break, repair as you would if it were the real thing...

Oh gosh, T !!!

You're already using that stuff?

You're familiar with it then?

Oops...

Sounds like you got it figgered.

I was surprised when I learned they made it in different densities, and some actually for sculpting to use with casting process. Haven't ever personally used that stuff, though.

That thing is a death trap...It's got no real body...that thing will crumple like tin foil and your head will impact what ever you hit, plus I'm guessing there was no wind tunnel testing...what if that the little rise in the front creates lift and the front end lifts off the ground - no steering! No thanks!

Ha! Ha!
Actually, Al, if you look at the photos I posted, you'll see the whole body is there, except where they radiused the wheel wells for the 22's. The PU foam is just layed on over the existing bodywork.
It might be a tad safer in an impact!

I'll say that's a real good point you've made about the aerodynamics possibly creating lift and loss of traction.
At what speed would you expect an effect like that to make a significant difference?
I've driven a number of 'flivvers' and had no problem up to 55 or 60.
Taken a VW powered Meyers Manx up to about 75 or 80 with no prob.

The Russian roads are absolute junk, from what I've seen of them.
Nothing like the Autobahn in Germany.

I was told at least one person of every family in Germany dies on the Autobahn.
You believe that?

I suppose you could hire a test pilot, if you had intentions of motoring REAL fast in one of those show cars!

Not sure how fast the little CL's are... I doubt they are in the 250-300kph class, are they?
Ha! Ha! You could get up to hi-speed and peel that foam right off the car!

It's all good!
