Letter opener holder. The letter opener would go inside that tube!!!!!!!!! What ever it is it looks pretty cool where did you find it. Sometimes its kinda cool to not know Thanks for sharing it!!!!!

Looks Native American or maybe Inuit. Maybe used for holding needles? An awl?

Looks like a little bit of rusty metal on the small end. Is it steel on the end?

The pictures make the object look conical in shape and non ferrous. Congrats on your find. I hope someone can identify it.

If you look at the 1st pic in Post #3, the small tip looks like rust - like it might have a steel tip on the leather. And yes, looks conical. "IF" that's a steel tip, then I haven't a clue, as it most likely was not hand made by NA, Inuit, etc. If not a steel tip and just dirty or deteriorated, then I would guess a pouch for sewing needle (for leather, maybe?) or an awl.
