I decided to hit a nearby creek that had recently been washed out by rains and runoff. I found plenty of heartbreakers , but also some decent whole points and tools. Picture list, hafted scraper, broken savannah river, guilford drill?, humpback knife/adze?. I'm not real sure about the black resharpened drill piece, any ideas? The humpback piece is really cool, fits the hand perfectly. thanks for looking, have a good one.

here's another pic of the red quartzite tool, and three heartbreakers.

Looks like you had a good hunt. Where there are heartbreakers there are whole ones. Look forward to seeing what you find next hunt.

Any Idea on the material of the first point?

Molly.

thanks for the comments greg, muddy, and seger, appreciate it. Molly, I'm not absolutely sure of the material. I dont think it's local but have found it before. It actually reminds me of hornstone a bit, pretty far east of hornstone but possible I guess. What would you type the drill as? seeing how we're in roughly the same area. Would you type that piece as a guilford? I'm pretty sure the drill is made of Kanawha flint.

Does look like Hornstone ( a hafted scraper), its definetly not a local material. A friend of mine found material that originated from 500 miles away, so anythings possible.
I'd say the drill was a Guilford Yuma, still as good shoulders & base. I also agree with you on the material.

Third pic down would have been a good sized Savanah River.

You say the tool is red quartzite? It looks the same material as my notched axe, I still aint sure what material it is.

Nice to see some different materials from our states for a change.

Molly.

I call it red quartzite, but a couple hunting buddies of mine call it rhyolite? not really 100% sure but it's some kind of low grade, coarse grained, igneous rock that outcrops in several areas within a few miles of me, it's everywhere.
