Cru'Team end of year post - 2015

Firstly thanks to Land-Mag for his continued support this last year.:award_star_silver_2

This is the first full year with the XP Deus & I'm very impressed with its performance, thanks XP.:metaldetector:

2011 - 2635
2012 - 2069
2013 - 1357
2014 - 1557
2015 - 1255

Record hours this year at nearly 530 Hours on 128 days. Cru'Dad did 496.5 Hours, so over 1000 combined hours of hunting.

It's funny to look back at the beginning of the year & think it will be a tough one, as we have bashed many of our good sites to near death, but then to finish the year in disbelief on how well it went.
This year we invested heavily in trying to track down new sites, & was successful in that we found 6 or 7 new Roman Sites, however only 1 was any good.
A few things stick out this year;
The Gold Hammered of James I
Very Rare Galba Denarius
The extremely Rare Iron Age (Celtic) Bulls Head Cauldron Mount
A record 1 day total of 5 Roman Silver Coins
Record Roman Silver Coin count of 27, even though our bronze count was lower than usual.

Although some of our counts are relatively low, like the Roman Bronze & the Hammered, we have more than made up for it in a higher than usual bunch of QUALITY coins. The 1 missing coin we would have liked to have found was the Saxon Sceat, but there is always next year.

Speechless

I think the Bull is my favorite but that's like picking one super model out of 100. Nice work Cru and Cru Dad!

When I saw you posted your years finds I actually went and got a new cup of coffee and a drool towel before I opened the thread . As I expected the coffee went cold and the towel is very damp from the drool puddle . Your finds are amazing and keep the people on this side of the pond humble in the "new" coins we find . I cant really say much more then that without sounding like a star struck teenager, which I am far from that young anymore . Incredible year for you and im looking forward to seeing what you bring to the table in 2016:occasion14:

Thanks, we will really need to keep up our game in 2016 to do our usual damage. But its funny to look back at the 2007 totals, when we thought 50 Roman Bronze Coins in a month was a hard target, & we got 23 today in just over 3 hours...lol (will post on Monday)

Insane success Cru. Normally I would pick relics as favs but its hard to beat the gold coins. The siliqua is really something too.

We had quite a few nice Iron Age & Roman Brooches this year, but if I pick all the fav's I would have too many pictures! Its hard to say what I prefer, but I think coin man just tips in, as I started collecting from the age of 9, 2 years before I started detecting.

I see wonderful things. What a year you and your Father have had ! Thank you for sharing your excellent finds with us on this forum.

These records are not even the tip of the iceberg, its the tip of the tip...lol
Due to the dedicated work that Cru'Dad does with all the GPSing, he clocks up another 1000 hours of researching & record keeping. I should add a special thanks to him for what must be now the largest database of detecting finds in the country. :hello2: (by a 2 man team)

You're not kidding when you say QUALITY finds. These treasures are far beyond simply being impressive, they truly are important pieces of history. I always love seeing your posts, can't wait to see what the next year will bring. Good luck in 2016!!

Regards + HH

That was a great year for the team. You see how persistence pays off when looking at the counted hrs and not to forget the countless hours in research, field walking and talking to landowners to get permission. I'm impressed again when looking at the totals. :notworthy:

Congrats on the great finds.one could only dream of making the finds that u guys make but how can u compare California state history with England's and Europe's will be retiring in 2 years God willing and I plan on making a trip to England and Europe.

just staggering! That's more roman coins than I found clad U.S. dimes this year. An incredible year, and thank you for sharing all of your finds, and contributing your knowledge with us all.

Wow Cru Congrats! I would give anything to play in your yard for just a week. It must be a blast digging that kind of history!

Absolutely amazing finds! Your gold hammered it the cherry on top! Glad to always read your posts and see the wonderful pieces of history you unearth. I wish you happy hunting and keep the posts coming!!

In a way it seems funny you can narrow it down to just a handful of finds you like best, so in that sense we're pretty much all the same. And it really is about the quality of those few ain't it... and having fun along the way of course.

Awesome finds for the year! You and Cru-dad have some very tough competition....yourselves!
Has anyone mentioned cloning yet? :D
