I finally got around to posting these relics and combining them into one display box since the CW Camps are only 15 miles apart. The relics on the left are from a 1862 Gen. John H. Morgan Cavalry Camp and include a broken brass stirrup, pewter underwear button and various bullets. The iron part is from a wagon tongue. Dman hunted that site with me and dug several bullets and a button. The lucky dog found a place where a Confederate Soldier unloaded an entire cylinder from a Model 1860 Colt .44 cal. revolver. Of course, he did not tell me until he cleaned out that spot out claiming "I just couldn't help myself-every time I moved my detector, there was another bullet".
The right side of the box contains relics from Camp Stanley U.S. CW Camp in Murfreesboro, Tennessee not far from the Stones River Battlefield. A local source there told Dman and I that excavation was going on and to get over there before the site was destroyed. We asked permission from the contractor, braved a thunderstorm, and dug a few relics before the site was completely ruined for detecting. Happy hunting and come on fall!!!
