The first pic looks like a candy bar. Cool flaking on it. Still nice even if broke.

''Just breaks your heart'' :BangHead: Been there.

What makes you think it was a Cumberland? It doesn't look like one to me. That base looks more like a Copena to me. Any grinding on it?

Nice find:icon_thumleft:to bad it is broken. I see you have your painter jeans on, love the colors:tongue3:

Nice find. It does look old, but might not be Cumberland due to the lack of angle on the shoulders, and the straight base, not concave. I have seen a few broken Clovis preforms that looked very similar to your piece, maybe broken during manufacture. JMHO. Copena may be a good call as well, interesting find. Thanks for the view.

After taking a better look, that piece seems to have to much finish work for a preform. Good luck..

Could b a beaver lake that is a Cumberland point too and I have a copena that isn't what this is so here are some better pictures and it does have a channel flake on the other side ...it has been ground ... Not all cumberlands were fluted

Painterx7 - I have no problem believing it's a paleo base. I tend to agree with theviking here. Very cool find. True paleo pieces are hard to come by.

I retract my previous statement there could b a possibility this is a Copena but I pulled it from the bank of the Cumberland river so a Cumberland Copena we could call it haha

Thanks for all the great comments It really made my day if it is a paleo piece broke or not this is what I'm truly after I'm half way there ;)

Usually when I see long wide flake scars I think old, but in this case I think we were fooled. I think Grim Reaper nailed with Copena, a well made Copena with a funny thinning strike on one side..I could be wrong.

I think your right grim :(
