I got out for a couple of hours yesterday trying to beat the cold and did some more yatd and curb hunting. First I started on a patch of grass that I had skipped a couple of days prior where the old house had recently been demolished and I found the Great Seal button by the curb. My second target of the day was silver Washington, and the rest of the yard yielded nothing but debris and other crap.

So with a little bit of time left I decided to walk down the sidewalk and hunt in front of a couple of really old vacant houses. Don't worry I confirmed it with the City Halls Legal Department that the space between the sidewalk and curb was city property, and that there are no ordinances prohibiting me from detecting.

I'd didn't find much but one of the neighbors who looks like Popcorn Sutton came outside and we had a nice long chat, which resulted in more permissions (for another day) since he maintained the yards of the vacant houses.

With only a few minutes left before having to head home I swung around the front porch of one of the old houses and scored an 1894 IHP, and as I was walking back to my truck, I hit a banging signal against the curb and pulled out an Airforce button (1949-????).

Nice. That Airforce button cleaned up really nice.

Cool finds. I primarily hunt curb strips. They can be gold mines. Way to go and thanks for sharing!!

I've been saying that for a few years, and even told an archeologist that develops new GPR, magnetometers and the like that the first guy who creates a handheld metal detector type machine that works like a side scan fishfinder and produces an image, would be RICH.

Nice finds!!! LOL at Popcorn:
